Global Risk Assessment Services (GRAS) is an innovative service and information provider offering environmental and social knowledge for fully traceable and sustainable supply chains. Our activities and impact are expanding and our teams are growing exponentially since the last 2 years. This is why the GRAS team, specifically the GIS & Sustianability team of experts are looking forward to welcome you as Automation Intern at GRAS headquarters in Cologne.


The Automation Intern – GIS & Sustainability has the objective to support the implementation of deforestation-free supply chains by developing streamlined workflows for data processing and analysis.

Your main duties will be:

  • You will support the web-application and dashboard development (UI/UX), maintenance and documentation
  • You will assist in building streamlined workflows for geospatial data processing , analysis, and effective geodatabase management
  • You will support the GeoAI research and implementation
Your profile
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in (geo-)informatics, computer science, data science, and/ or a study with a thematic focus on topics such as sustainability, environmental and climate protection with full-time availability for 3-6 months
  • Good knowledge in programming languages: python and R. Java script for GEE is an advantage 
  • Experience in geospatial analysis and geodata processing (experience in packages sf, terra, raster and more), experience in remote sensing data handling is an advantage 
  • Knowledge in Docker or other containerization tools
  • Knowledge in ETL processes and geospatial database management is a plus
  • Knowledge or strong interest in UI/UX design tools and CI/CD pipeline 
  • Pro-active working style and attention to detail 
  • Very good knowledge of spoken and written English is essential 
  • Ability to work in an international team as well as independently 
  • Good knowledge of standard software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
